> MONSOON (Barsha Ritu)

Rainfall makes the mountain-roads dangerous to travel- we know! It is still possible to enjoy a great trip to Nepal during monsoon; All you need to do is pick your destination and itinerary carefully, especially if trekking is in your hotlist. The monsoon season is often from July to August, where the build up can be stiflingly hot. During these months, Nepal is often overcast with periodical heavy showers.

Nepalese welcomes the monsoon with Ratho manchindra nath festival. Lalitpur is the best place to witness this festive waves of Newari community. If you are a nature lover, you should visit the tea hills of Illam to soothe your eyes with fresh green views of drenched tea-gardens, mountain streams and natural forests. Helambu village is also a good option to walk around in charming apple gardens while enjoying the views of Gauri Shankar, Langtang Lirung and Ganesh Himal.

In case your legs crave for a trek then you may go for Dolpo circuit trek to explore the mysterious & spiritual hidden valley. You may get rewarded with a sight of snow leopard there. In Phoksundo National Park, you will find the deepest and the biggest high altitude lake in the world!

Langtang valley trek will be a good choice if you want to get accompanied by red panda and alluring monal bird. It offers an opportunity to explore the cultures and traditions of the ethnic group of Tamangs who speak Tibeto-Burman language and trace their roots back to Tibet practicing a form of Tibetan Buddhism, as in our way we will pass by series of Tamang villages. This trail leads you to sacred alpine lakes of Gosaikund where thousands of Hindu pilgrims visit the lakes during the full moon festival in August.

Apart from these, upper Mustang, Huma's Limi valley, upper part of Manang are completely safe to travel, as they are less affected by the monsoon rains. Huma's Limi valley trek goes through one of the last true wilderness area nearby borders of TIbet in the far west of Nepal. Standing at the view point of Yak Kharka, you can be blessed with a stunning view of Mt.Kailash of Tibet.

Trek is slightly difficult in monsoon, but not impossible! You just need to be malleable with your travelable. In some areas, flight may be delayed or cancelled due to heavy rains. Landslides can happen, causing road closures.
